Constitution of the Mar Menor Golf Society

Objectives
The Mar Menor Golf Society (hereafter known as the Society) is formed to provide Golf under Competitive conditions, to benefit all our Members.
The Society main golf day will be each and every Wednesday, with other golfing days & events offered throughout the year.  
The Society agrees to abide by the Rules of Golf as laid down by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, to include local rules as deemed necessary.

Membership
1. Shall be open to existing Members plus any other Individuals who are proposed and seconded by existing Members on presentation of a current handicap certificate. Should Handicap Certificates not be available, then it will be requirement that they play 3 x 18 Hole rounds with Members
2. Application shall be in writing with the appropriate application form, counter signed by the proposed
3. Annual Membership Fee shall be payable from 1 January each year, this being non-refundable and paid to the Treasurer or to his or her Committee representative, a receipt will be given  
4. Resignations to be in writing and addressed to the Secretary
5. All Members are expected to play a minimum of 5 Handicap Qualifying Rounds per year

Officers / Committee
Shall consist of: Past Captain, Captain, Vice Captain, Secretary, Treasurer, Competition Secretary, and Handicap Secretary and up to 5 General Committee Members  
The General Committee shall have all such administrative powers as may be required to benefit the success of the Society and will meet at such intervals deemed necessary

Election of Officers / Committee
To be elected at the Society A.G.M. in January of each year

Past Captain will become an Advisory Consultant to the New Captain & his or her Committee.

The Captain or his / her nominated person will Chair all Society Meetings

The outgoing Vice Captain shall become the following year’s Captain

The Captain & Vice Captain will select the incoming Vice Captain

Conduct of Members
The Society, will in response to complaints as to the conduct of members, undertake an inquiry into the matter or incident and adopt disciplinary procedures.
The Committee shall appoint a Disciplinary Committee, which unless special circumstances arise, will consist of the past Captain, Captain and one other Committee Member, with the past Captain acting as Chair for said Committee
The Committee may suspend from Membership (pending an inquiry) any person whose conduct in the opinion of the Committee may be detrimental or injurious to the character or the interests of the Society, thereby rendering them, unfit to remain as Members of the Society
Bad language, drunkenness, illegal betting or any anti social behaviour will not be permitted during the attendance of any Society Events

Subscriptions
The Annual Fee for Playing Membership will be set at the A.G.M. in January each year.

Guests
A Guest Policy will be determined by the Committee which will be presented on the Notice Board and Web Site.

Complaints
All complaints to be in writing to the Secretary

Handicaps
1. All handicaps shall be calculated and controlled in accordance with the E.G.A. and administered by the Handicap Secretary
2. Any person applying for Membership, without a current handicap certificate, will be assessed by a Committee Member
3. All Guests must produce a current handicap certificate to validate ability

Competitions
The Competition Secretary in liaison with the Committee shall be responsible for the advance booking of venues and format of Competitions played by the Society

Contingency
The Committee shall have powers to deal with all matters not contained within the above Constitution

Miscellaneous
All Playing Members are required to familiarise themselves and act in accordance with section one (Etiquette) of the Rules of Golf, Royal and Ancient

The General Committee, either jointly or separately shall not be liable or responsible for physical injury, loss or damage suffered by Members, their Guests or any third party, howsoever caused, whether by negligence or otherwise, whilst playing in a Society Golf Fixture or attending a Society Event

Members and Guests are responsible for providing their own insurance cover and particularly against third party liability

The Dress Code shall be determined by the relevant Golf Club
