competitions is Monday noon beforehand –
first come first served.
6 Society subscription for 2023:
a) It
was agreed to change rule 12 and re-align WHGS year-end to September, so we
finish in better weather going forward. This will truncate current year to 9
months.
b) The
next society year runs from October 2023 to September 2024.
c)
£60
subs to be paid latest by Rutland Water on 11 March 2023.
d)
Monthly
cash prizes as per society rules 19, 20 & 21 remain unchanged.
e)
Monthly
green fees remain averaged out at £30 per month for members (disregard costs on
Golfsoc - you pay £30 per match)
7 Handicap Secretary report:
a) New handicaps were adopted closest to World
Handicap System (WHS).
b) Rule 13 - now using Golfsoc closest version
of WHS for handicaps.
c) Rule 14 – handicap adjustments for 1st
or 2nd place remains.
d) Rule 15 – ‘event handicap’ carries over to
next game member plays.
e) Rule 16 – ‘event handicap’ is temporary
and removed after use.
8 Society Rules:
a) Rule
18 – check gross scores with player/marker after each round – last resort is
disqualification if cards are not clear for scoring.
b) Rule
24 – late withdrawal after competition entry may result in full cost of actual green
fees to the member if the society cannot negotiate a refund.
c) Updated
rules will be posted on Golfsoc website for 2023.
9 Committee Members 2023:
a)
Chairman
asked if any member to join committee and help run society - there were none. Committee
agreed to continue but with notice from Chairman to stand down next year and
give someone else chance to lead direction of society.
b)

Brian Bell, Treasurer Colin Clarke, Handicap Sec Jim Darrah, Chairman
Mark Smith
10 Any Other Business:
a)
The
White Hart pub agreed to make an area available to us for gathering after
matches to enter score cards and have post-match get together.
b)
The
honours board will continue to be most
wins in a season with a tiebreaker in the first month following if so required.
c)
Jim
Darrah will sponsor a new order of merit trophy for the society’s most
consistent player – details to be confirmed.
d)
Members
would like some 2023 events to be fun games like a Texas scramble, captain’s
day or 3-club challenge – detail to be confirmed.
e)
An
overnight away game emailed out by Phil Bissaker had little response from
members. Will send out another request but need commitment if we are to proceed
with any booking. Possibly looking at October 2023.
